Yeah but sometimes you end up chasing bait when the fish are biting. Real bummer.Lol. Most of these guys won't admit it but if you could sell bait on this lake you'd have major business! "Give me a doz large shad and 2 dozen moneymakers." Deal!;D John - there is absolutely no question on that point. I'm glad its illegal to do so. No question that there are plenty of times I would plot down a $20 or more for bait - heck, I'll spend that much or more in fuel easy a lot of times running around catching the right bait. I have a friend in GA that makes a pretty good living catching and selling bait - as well as stocking ponds - expanding that business to East TN right now - opeing a new store Feb 1st. However, do we REALLLY want to be able to go buy bait on or near SML? think about that one carefully

That's what I'm concerned with JSN - I encourage you to do some searching on the forum from where StripedYam 1st introduced himself here - a self-professed artificial jigging nut - then follow the time-lineage of his post & videos as he was introduced to live-bait and the transformation he then went under until today...... then ask yourself if you are ready for such a journey... then ask yourself again.... and again...... I hear ya, Go big or go home.

I have a blast chasing bait. It's all fishing to me. The older I get the more I appreciate the finer details and trust me... I haven't always been that way. To me catching bait is all about fun and it's freaking addictive. My shoulders may not like it much but oh well.

I agree, I always tell guys you have to like catching bait as much as striper fishing. The downside is I dont want to learn other ways to catch them which can be more productive in the winter.

Don't worry, before I posted, I bought every piece of pepperoni within a 2 hour drive of the lake..... too bad it's against the law to sell bait or I would let you have some of it. the fish will be switching back to smaller bait soon, maybe drag4striper will let you have some slimjims.....

Ha bigun...... Use that same "bait" at a rodeo. Works too. Might have to try it on the lake. You guys rock.
Oh, what's a slim Jim?

Okay definition of a "Slimjim" for the new guys; 1. an American brand of jerky snacks or dried sausage. 2. a Penile gesture, involves a man pulling his penis till it's stretched to the maximum. 3. a Bull rider, in order to save what balls they have they're required to have a "slimjim" otherwise the action of riding a bull in itself would eliminate a normal sized penis. Note to Gator; I had to do it bud, you teed it up for me!
