Just a heads up i picked up a sb2 last year used polyfil and it worked good not to expensive but was still a mess. Look on Amazon for square floor buffing pads and get you some of those cut them to fit yojr filter box and you will have filters fot years. I figured i would share i haven't seen anything about that on here and you can get a box of 5 for around 30 bucks! Depending on your filter size you could get with a few friends and split a box.

Have not seen anyone use floor buffing pads. Air filters, bonded polyfil and other are popular.
Let us know how they work out - as long as they are not coated with some cleaner nor such I’d think they would work

I think the new thing is converting the tanks to run the filter socks. I am running the filter socks in my SBT's and they are great.

The buffings pads are working great so far i used the poly fill but would clog up frequently. When the top pad gets nasty i just rinse it off in the lake and throw it back in, this is the third trip using the same filters just rinse out and reuse.

The loose polyfil can be a mess and also end up wrapped around your pump impeller. The bonded polyfil, like for cushions and such - is better in that regard.

x2 on the filter socks - much better luck for me than using some type of filter box.

I seen the socks the other day looking at an extreme tank but these are doing the job so i reckon i am going to use them for a while until they mess up, can anyone post some pictures of there set up with the socks and whats the advantage over a box? I like the concept of the extreme there is a lot more filter area than a sb2.

I use the same socks in my SBT2 as they do the extreme so my filter area is much better than the stock SBT2. The socks last all day and they are easy to rinse out. I keep an extra set on hand all the time but I do filter cleans way less often.

I use actual tube sock from a dollar store and havent had an issue so this "can" be a cheap upgrade...few dollars in PVC and a couple dollars of socks I throw away after using a few times and I couldnt be happier.

Does anyone have a link showing how to convert sbt2 to filter socks?
Or just a picture?
Curious how the single vs double standpipe affect set up.
