As a follow up to this post I finally got to use some the true filter socks this past weekend vs using regular old men's tube socks and the true filter socks do work better by a pretty substantial margin.
This past weekend I stuffed my tank full of roughly 3 dozen 6 to 10 inch gizzards on Friday evening....rinsed the filters that evening and put them back on.
Caught a dozen more good size gizzard mid-day on Saturday and 2 dozen more Saturday evening with 2 being true mongo size and never looked at the filters after that first rinse and never did a water change the whole weekend andmy water stayed clear, did not smell bad and I did not lose a single bait.
I am a HUUUUUGGGEEE believer in the sock filter set-up especially vs the ifffy filter setup the 1st gen Xtreme tanks came with.

I converted my tank to the socks and love them. In the conversion I had the opportunity to play around a bit.. I have a 50 gallon tank which is not only big but heavy... I thought if I had several stand pipes of different sizes I could say only have 30 gallons in the tank but run as if it was full... I am still working on it but ran last weekend with a half full tank and a smaller stand pipe and it worked well... Just food for thought... Good Luck

There is no doubt in my mind one would work you just have to play with the height of you stand pipe to get your water level correct
