Sure thing. About 100lbs. in most cases. Just ask yourself why they dont make as many 4 stroke dirtbikes, leaf blowers, weed eaters etc. There is so much more drive train mass in the 4 strokes that it sucks away the low end torque.

The new 200hp 4 stroke Yamaha is 483 lbs. That weighs less then my 99 200hp 2 stroke Yamaha at 507.

The new 200hp 4 stroke Yamaha is 483 lbs. That weighs less then my 99 200hp 2 stroke Yamaha at 507. But when the weight of all the cast nets you have aboard exceeds the weight of either engine, what does it matter anyway

Valves, timing belts, cylinder heads, too much to go wrong for this guy. I work on my own motors and appreciate the simplicity of the 2 strokes. If I wentnnew I think id get a new Etec. And remember this boat is a 1998!!! But opinions are like what again??

Hey Pete, back in the day; "don't buy those damned V8 engines--too many moving parts" "those damned Japanese motors are junk" (Yamaha?) "that Microsoft craziness of Bill Gates's won't last!" "this flip phone is the last phone you'll ever own" "charge your phone wirelessly--impossible!" Just saying my friend.

Thanks guys im considering all options and both 2 stroke and 4 stroke. My biggest problem is i convinced the wife to let me buy a boat not a boat and a engine with a payment lol. So im doin some figuring and planning. Everyones input is great and thanks for lending me the voices of opinion.

I love them both.
