I have not had the chance to up date my unit yet Can any body post some of the setting that are working good for you that way I can play with mine I have a gen 1

I try ed to download the 4.1 and i could not get the fish finder to take it off the card any ideas why not? I think i have the 4.0 now

The file you download from Lowrance's Website is not the file that goes onto the memory card, but rather the installer tool.
Did you download the file to your PC, and then run the installer from the PC, selecting your memory card "drive" and let the installer place the right files there?

Yep - download the file and save it to your desktop or wherever.
I always format the memory card on the PC before running the installer program to make sure the card is clean and it only has the "right" stuff on it once the install is done...
Then run that file - it will launch an application and at some point will prompt you for a drive - select the drive letter for your memory card - then let it do its thing.
Once it is done, put the memory card in a HDS unit that is turned off, turn the unit on and it should detect it, and do the install.....

New Lowrance HDS Gen2 software update - looks like a minor one that may only be useful if you also have a Touch unit.
HDS Gen2 1.1.39.44 includes the following improvements:
