So once again while the rest of the fishermen today caught multiple citations, I decided to buck the trend and do my own thing. Yesterday I learned a few things about my fish cam so today was a day for me to optimize.
My first goal...clearer water in the sun and away from humans! And I found the perfect spot.
However, no fish cooperated (WT = 50) until I decided to take down my Grundens for a quick pee. And don't you know it...BAMMM... and it was on my board with the camera.
A nice 4 pound bass surprise! Should be neat to see how bass attack 13 inch mongos! The black cylinder right above the bass is the camera! WOOHOO!
After that, I decided to travel on up into the 4 foot seas and do some exploring. Amazing how many idiots were out fishing today. I thought I would be the only one! What is wrong with you people? That wind was dangerous!
Anyway...I had to find some peace and quiet.. so I found a spot that looked horrible for fishing but looked great for clear water, no humans and most importantly, lighter winds! My goal was then to just film my biggest mongo (14 inches) and see how he responded to various speeds and whatever! You know... bopp him off rocks and docks and stuff!
I had a freaking blast!
And as I was smoothly pulling my little buddy and REALLY feeling a sense of oneness with nature, I then texted (HOW NATURAL!) my buddy and wrote, "I just love to film bait...stripers would screw this up!"
And of course as soon as I hit send, my planer took off into never never land. OH MY GOD!!! If you think I am funny when birds CAWWWW you should have seen me here!! EVERYTHING was perfect: clear gin water, a monster mongo and a BIG FAT FISH!
What a fight as my heart pounded and I thought of the glory this video would bring. And after a few minutes fighting this 32.5", 16 Pound FAT HOG that I hooked in the gut with my J hook, I am proud to say I landed him with a camera right above his face!
And after I finally got him to swim away with a mighty splash, I let out a yell you could hear for miles.
I couldn't contain myself. I so badly wanted to see this video..maybe fish some more, watch the video...fish...WHICH one?
Uhhh...I can do BOTH!
My computer was down so I came up with a genius idea. I could put the SD card in my GoPro and use the GoPro app to watch my video...I thought and still think you can do.
So as I fished and watched my mongos surface and twitch as my heart went up and down. I then reached my beaten up, slime-caked hand into my little black cylinder and pushed ever so slightly on the SD card to remove it.
What I was not aware of was that this memory card was spring loaded and this spring had enough force to send the card airborne as a nice gust of wind then took it for a sail into the clear water. I say clear...because I got to watch it sink about three feet before it and all my dreams of glory vanished to the bottom!
And I didn't catch one more fish the rest of the evening. It seems my earlier loud scream of joy attracted this freaking heron that followed my ass all the way into the evening. And each time a shad would surface, he would fly over it and kill the action!
So congratulations to all my friends who caught so many BIG fish the last few days! REALLY! THIS IS AWESOME FOR ALL OF US AND OUR FUTURE!
I so just wanted to bring a different element to our shared passion. And I do have some decent video...just not as good as that gorgeous 16 pound fish.
What doesn't kill us makes us stronger!
