I talked to the ?owner? of Betts here in Fuquay NC the other day and he told me about a net they offer called the Super Deep net I believe. He said they take a mesh material similar to that found on old lawn furniture and attach it to the net to act as planers on the net to keep the net open better as it sinks deeper. I assume this is similar to the tape mentioned earlier in this thread. Has anyone tried these nets or seen one in action? I want to be able to get those gizzards if they are deep!!! Picture:

Been doing that for years. Put a strip of tape inside about 2 inches up and then a strip outside sticking to that. Makes net stay open longer as it falls. Guy called schumaker down in fla makes nets that have webbing sewn in for that. Similarvto that picture above.

Assume it works well or you would have only done it for a year instead of years? Any downside to the tape method?

Yeah use and old net because the tape can not be removed easily.

That is a beautiful thing to see.... Who the heck is going to be able pull that monster up and into the boat full of bait?..... If you do manage to somehow get it into the boat, I can see having to wade thru bait a foot deep in the bottom of the boat. Regardless of what my wife thinks..... bigger is not always better.

For many years I totally believed that it wasn't the size that matters. After carefully reconstructing my past, I have now come to the painful realization that I was totally wrong.

First off, this info about cast nets has been very informative and helpful in my selection of a new net. I took the advice and watched the Striper Soup method of throwing a net. I am left with one major question. Is the gentleman in the video left handed? Everything he is doing makes perfect sense and looks very doable, but seems backwards to a right hand dominant person. (Me). lol. If anyone has any insight or suggestions, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yes i believe Shawn throws left handed if i remember right. All you need to do is load everything into your right hand the same way and you'll be good to go.
