Fishing related "Apps"

I know a number of folks fish with a Smartphone in your pocket.... What are the "apps" that you have loaded on them to help out with fishing, planning for fishing, bragging about fishing, etc?

Here are a few that I have loaded on my iPhone - I know there are Android equivalents of some of these, but not familiar with them.

Some iPhone apps....

Fishing Calendar

Shows "peak" fishing times, moon phases, sunrise/sunset - can detect your location via GPS or you can set it via a zip-code - can look at the info for any date along the calendar. I use this one a lot to check sunrise / sunset times and moon phases.



Navionics USA

Has the Navionics charts that you can view without any internet connectivity - latest version has a "community layer" where users can submit updates / content / etc. Nice for planning fishing spots, finding humps, submerged points, etc.




Hunt Fish VA

DGIF app that has fish regs, etc - does require internet access to get to information


Sea Tow

Pretty cool little app that has Weather/Radar, Tide info, GPS/Compass (including speed over ground, etc), and also contact info for Sea Tow in the event you are a member and need help on the water

Mward how do you like the navionics apparently? Looked at it for android phone and a lot of complaints about not working after last update. Looks really good though. Does it show you location on the lake as you are moving like GPS in a car? Or just a fixed map? How's the detail of SML?

The most recent version (on the iPhone) seems to work really well. It shows your location on the lake based on the internal GPS of the phone - and if you're moving it will move as long as the app is open. You can also record tracks, etc.

Detail is good - has 3' contours. It does not show the old road near the island at Becky & Betty's but has the one in Indian.

The current version of the app covers all US & Canada - lots of lake coverage. Has a little coverage of the Bay, but the coastal version of the app may be better for out there....

Navionics is worth the money!!! Download that with google earth and have them side by side and it is the best lake map you could have!
The iPhone app will give you the speed which you are moving and the spot you are curantly at! Must have good service though! Also store locations w/ several different type marks( fish, house, pin)! Give you the distance from one spot to another! Worth it!!!!
When in shallow water it will give me intervals of 1' ! It's all in what zoom your in!

Would like to see the differance of the iPhone navionics, and the hds maps!

Can you download the maps of the lake to the I Phone and look at them anytime, just wondering looking at a I Pod without the phone

I don't see why you couldn't! It's in the app store and should be available for all apple products! Just a fee! 9.99$ I beleave! You have to have a wifi connection to download! And a wifi to download each map section!

Will have to go to the store and read the fine print and see what it says, seems like you can, looks like a great map for the lake, anyone used them down on the coast, wonder how it would work down there

All I can say mward, is less is more.......between all your apps, the radar, the Lowrance HDS and all its gadgets and the satellite radio.....no wonder you are "catching challenged"

When I am big fish hunting (spring/fall), I try not to take my eyes off the boards......

The Navionics app should run in an iPod Touch. The charts are built into the app - dont know if the iPod Touch has GPS or not though.... Not that it's that important - the charts are the value.
