Just sitting here in nags head watching the waves crash reading about eating sand fleas. We were down on the beach today & I was catching some for my girls to play with & a little boy came running down & said can you catch some for my dad he wants to eat them. I said he wants to what? Are you sure, he said yea so I said aight I'll get ya some. Got back to the condo & decided to google it & sure enough it was there. Just wandering if any of you guys has ever tried em? I love sea food but dont know about this one.

We used to catch them for bait, some fish love them. Haven't found them down at Holdren or Ocean Isle. Really don't think I would want to eat one.

Caught a bunch today to use for sheepshead tommorow. Think I'll stick with using them as bait. Fished for a few hours Monday & went through at least 30 with no hook up. Left frustrated & havnt felt like trying again til today. Fishing down at bonner bridge at Oregon inlet. Hope to get a few sheepshead for supper.

Planning on fishing for them when we go down, heard fiddler crabs are good, house we stayed at last year had a bunch of them in the grass at low tide, hope its the same this year so I can catch some of them for bait and fish the bridge pilings.

Fiddler crabs are really good but haven't found a good place to get some( I didn't bring my boat). I tried using the ghost crabs that run the beach at night & they got as much action as the fleas. Someone told me that tautog were probably hitting them. I hope to find out tommorow.

I was down at Carolina Beach a few weeks ago and bait was getting robbed faster than I could rebait (fresh, dead shrimp). I switched to a lighter rod and a non-circle hook, kept the line tight and yanked hard at the slightest pull. Still missed over half but I got some of the small pin fish that were ripping it off.

Lot of bait stealers down there, I use squid a lot and in the canal I use #10 or #12 hooks to catch the little ones for bait.

Fished for about 4hrs this morning with my brother in law & after about 100 or more sand fleas managed to bring home one 2 lb sheepshead. Did snag a pinfish so they must be the man thieves. Hard to believe those little guys can rob a sand flea in 1 or 2 bumps. Oh well happy to get one head. Not very computer savvy so still haven't figured out how to post pics.

Take a look at the post by MWard smlfishingforums.proboards.com/thread/37/posting-picsThis should help you to post the pictures, glad you caught some of them. I know there are a lot of fish down there that steal bait, along with the crabs. But it's fun to fish down there, I'm looking forward to it.
