I read last fall there was a possibility of restricting access to Dam Tail waters across Tn. Ran across this earlier.

Pretty fun I think. You'd have to be really stupid to get killed below one when they're just generating. Spilling is different. Probably more like being below SML when the siren goes off except right up against the actual dam if you could, which would be idiotic. They broke for 3 hours straight! So dangerous Mward broke the law and didn't even wear a PFD! This is 1 beer an hour mward we're talking about..he follows the rules! Warning dangerous (slick calm) waters!

Welcome to the 21st century of Federal Government regulation. We can't choose which light bulb to use or to go fishing in a place that is safe and has been safe for decades. After all those government officials knows better than we do what is best for us. Yes we should be thanking them for shutting down the trailwaters. They are doing it for our good and we will be much happier when they make all our decisions for us. Man am I sick of this stuff. Whatever happened to freedom and adventure? It is going away fast and being replaced with control and being treated like a rat in a padded cage.

You mean I can't cross the train tracks now? Just kidding I loved his analogy. All they need is signs and horns after that it is simply an accident or someone who does not pay attention to warnings. I am compassionate to all who have lost someone at a dam because it may have just been an accident. You can slip in the tub and die. Rule #1 n life. If you are not sinning.... just ask for God's blessing on what you are doing and most of all make sure you enjoy it.
Rule #2 Do not be afraid of death if you did rule #1.

"It seems to me that most pros treat their boats like normal people treat rental cars. I don't think that's gonna buff out" - one of the comments on that video. "More money than sense" also comes to mind.

Not surprising when you get a new one each year from your sponsors and don't have tn worry about paying for it / making payments long after you've trashed it........

Asleepafloat got it right. Some of the sponsoring boat companies will just swap out boats with you if you damage it. I did practice with a pro once. He treated his sponsors boat with such great disrespect I could not believe it.
The problem here is whether the government serves us or do we serve the government. If we the citizens want to take a risk fishing down stream from a dam, then they should serve us by allowing us the right to do so. We know that some of the stupid will die, but why is that not OK? If we want to take the risk, why not allow us? That sounds like freedom to me.
Personally I blame the lawyers.

If we want to take the risk, why not allow us? That sounds like freedom to me. Personally I blame the lawyers. Cigarettes are deadly but it is personal choice. Then someone computes the rising cost of health care and decides smokers are a drain on all of us. Do we get rid of the big buoys that keep people from getting too close to the dam intake also? How can it be mandatory to wear a seat belt, except for children? If cigarettes and booze are legal why outlaw any drug? I favor less gov't intervention and more personal responsibility, but if some action is going to result in corpses piling up daily, that is a lot for someone to clean up. This has nothing to do with the damn in Tennessee, just stretching the question to an extreme.
