AT - 43 - 60 WT - 51.5 - 56.5 Early morning was calm with light drizzle, cloudy until around midday and becoming breezy. I pulled freeline planer boards with money makers and dollar bill gizzards on short leads. Had activity up until around 12:00, the sun popped out and the barometric pressure dropped, after the weather change the action stopped for me. I was able to put 6 (small) stripers 26 - 31" in the boat. The fish just seemed to want to toy with baits and 4 of the 6 were caught on the stinger hooks. I missed more fish than I caught. My trolling motors batteries petered out on me, so I didn't get to fish the evening. I envy you guys that can fish the mornings, run back to your dock and recharge yourselves and trolling motor batteries and head out for and evening trip. There's an💡idea, for us less fortunate, we need a recharging station dock with electrical hook ups for the boats.

You are always welcome to recharge at my dock. There is also a nice hammock on the porch. Just let me know.

Look into Group 29 or 31 deep cycle batteries. You will make it through an entire day on one charge. I’m not even sure how well my batteries were charged the other day with Yam as my charger was unplugged (since ?) and we ran it pretty hard for about 10hrs in wind and they were still hanging on at dark. They’re all I’ll buy anymore deep cycle wise - big difference from a 27 group.
Good fishing btw!

Thanks for the suggestion BentRod, next time I need batteries I'll cheak out the battery dimenions to see if I can squeeze them into my compartment. Man, I can't imagine being able to fish the whole day. It's a bit tight as you can see.

Group 31 are a must. I can rabbit around all morning sometimes from 2am until first light chasing bait. Then I can troll into the wind all day long. I have a 36 volt motor though and that helps a ton. I also make sure I keep the batteries in a charged state as much as possible. 31s are not that much bigger.
Do it!

Maybe you could consider switching to 36 volt?

I believe a 36 volt trolling motor would be over kill for a 17.60 boat , but the larger batteries are definitely a good thought.

Drag, I have a boat similar in size to yours. I run an 80tm and I can fish sun up to sun down with no problems. Actually, I can do a full day and still have enough to do at least a half day trip the following day without a charge. I’m using four year old interstates. It can be done no problem.

I also wish I had room for another battery. I’d surely be using a 36v if so.

What group size battery are you running john? My batteries are less than two years old. The trolling motor is a terrova , but only came with a foot control.( bought the boat used) I have since had a remote installed and have notice my battery life has suffered. I figured its because I now have and use the rabbit feature often. I also leave the foot control plugged up and the light stays on it also. Next trip ill unplug it and see if I can get more run time.

I run a terrova 80 (24 volt) on my 17.5ft Bass Tracker and have never drained my batteries. I have even fished hard for two days and part of a night without recharging. The batteries I currently use are Duracell group 27. I am not partial at all to Duracell the only reason I went with those was after EXTENSIVE research these were the best option because they were the best group rating (within my budget) I could find in a size that would fit in my battery compartment. (sorry about the 36 volt comment....I didn't realize the size of your boat.) I also run it strictly by remote, pedal is never hooked up.

No worries AJ.
I am going to unhook the pedal and see what that does for me.
