If I were in your boat, I would clean all battery terminals and battery cables and most importantly, take apart and inspect your connections at the TM. If there is any sign of burnt plastic at the plug, there's your problem. I doubt that small light of your foot pedal is your issue but I would get rid of that as well.
I use 6 guage wires that run from my batteries to the TM. Depending on the length of your run, 8 guage might be fine. What do you use?
If all of the above is okay and you still have issues, try new batteries. If this doesn't work, then your TM is not working properly.
I wouldn't quit until I fixed this. Only being able to fish for half a day would kill me.

I started to work my way back from the trolling motor plug and found it to be fused together. This could be my problem. Definitely needs to be replaced.

Definitely replace the plug. U might want to pull prop off of your TM as well and make sure there isn’t any fishing line or any obstructions around the propeller.. As, this can really drain batteries as well..
I run two 27 batteries with 80 thrust 24V TM and they have always worked just fine for me ..
