Find them on your sonar then throw a big cast net over them.

Where ever the shad happen to be. Deep or if you are lucky shallow

The last couple of weeks I have had luck finding them in the very backs of most major creeks...20-25 feet deep usually during the day and a bit less at night.

Spring Break must be coming up Take a little time to read some of the recent reports posted - info there on the shad location and what's needed to catch them.

Spring Break must be coming up Remember guys, ilovesml is a youngun...... I love your enthusiasm, don't ever stop asking questions, that's how we learn. Cold front coming thru this weekend which will push the the bigger bait deeper and harder to catch. Don't know where you are located on the lake, but try mid to the backs of creeks. If you just want to catch fish, which I'm sure you do, put out a light on your dock and catch some smaller bait.... if you find the fish you will catch them.

I'm with you Bigun - also just suggesting he take advantage of the wealth of info already here - much from very recently as that time invested can pay dividends. If there are questions on the how's and what's there I for one am always very willing to expound upon the info in my reports too.

My post was no way intended for you Mr. Ward, or anyone else, you are always there to help, just meant in general and for everyone to to take into consideration he is just a kid wanting to learn. I remembered him posting his age (maybe last year), didn't know if anyone else remembered. I'm doing good, thank you for asking.

Lovesmll, you'll catch em. Just remember this... it's like school... ya gotta do your homework. The harder you work the better you will do. Ask questions, do your research and have fun. It's not always about catching.... enjoy the journey buddy and memories will follow.
Hey Bigun! How ya doing bud?

Ilovesml, i am new here as well and there is a wealth of knowledge here. Put in the time and share your experiences you will gain trust with fellow fishermen. Also check reports from last season and the season before around this time. Ive found it helpful to check reports that are around the current water temp and up coming forecast. Water last weekend on the BW side was 48.5-50.

Hey Bigun! How ya doing bud? ehhh, this retirement stuff is not what it's cracked up to be. I had visions of fishing and hunting all the time. Seems like I'm busier now than before.
