I only caught 3 bait this morning--gizzards about 7 inches. So after I had my huge spread of 3 poles out --1 down, 1 light, 1 free -- I started working on my artificial technique. I almost had it ready when the downline went down, and the free planer went off while I was reeling #1 in. Doubled up in a row boat with only 3 baits to my name. They were 28" and 24". Sometime you stumble upon them. Still working on my fluke though.

You guys are giving up way too many secrets. We rig our flukes that way for prespawn fish here. Started doing that for Smallmouth with bubblegum flukes in Canada. Works great, crazy action.

Two oars - nice fish, particularly the big one from other post. This is probably not the section to ask (and this may get moved) but how have you prepared these fish for the table? Always looking for new recipes!

One other thought - did you register the bigger one with DGIF? This time of year you would not only get the citation, but have good chance of biggest striper taken in Va . Worth a shot -

Hey Hillbilly I just had a friend's wife cook up striper on the grill and was one of the best I have ever eaten. She layed the fillet in heavy duty foil added sliced green pepper, red pepper, squash, vidalia onion, tomato, olive oil and lemon wedges. It was great.

seriously, do yall really rig flukes like that? Actually I was serious. My grandson rigged one backwards a few years ago and fish hit it. Now we don't do it much, and I think oars was joshing.

Kind of like the wacky worm and the trick worm. Lm are so finicky guys will try anything. I saw Rick Clunn years ago fishing a tourny on Tims Ford cut the bottom lip off a big chugger so it wouldn't pop and slid side to side. He won that weekend by over 20lbs. Go figure.
