No we didn't really have enough initial interest in this I thought to pursue putting it all together. We have been throwing around the idea of having a website fish off tournament that would last a month. Basically, you would sign up (entry would be cheap - $5-10) and we would mail you (or maybe email and you print on your own in case you lose it) a token card with a special logo or graphic to display in every fish entry picture you have for the month. These pictures would be emailed to us and then we would have prizes for longest fish, shortest fish, etc. We could even do bass and catfish categories, as well, along with stripers. The prize money wouldn't be much, but the bragging rights would make up for it! The only concern I have is how would we know where you were fishing? I think the simple answer to that is to allow any lake or river you fish to count.

And they don't count if you see 5' waves and freighters in the background

Let's do it then for crying out loud! I mean psrsonally I may not be able to attend it at the moment but why can't we just make it as simple as when you catch and releAse the fish, just call it in over the radio.

Yeah that would work in the 80s, maybe! I'm not sure how many people actually have usable radios on their lake boats these days - I'm sure a few but not everybody. Cell phone, email is probably more realistic.

Perhaps you could just set up a thread for each category and let folks post on the board to report their catches. Still think it would be fun to have a gathering (Mooses for some other central place) after the tournatment is closed out.

Post your measured pics in a tx thread and the mods could lock it at the end of check in time.

We know the logo so we can start fishing tomorrow right! As long as there a copy of the current Laker Weekly in the photograph too. (If all the trees in the background have all their leaves still...hmmm)

Look if you guys cheat for a sweatshirt then you have some real issues. We may add some other prizes as well but as of now it's all coming straight out of my pocket. Honestly I'm tired of trying to accomadate everyone's opinion. This was set up to be a simple and fun competition that literally anyone who striper fishes once in November can participate in for free. Either fish it or don't - I don't give a damn.

Why's it always gotta be during the winter months? Cant it be during one of the warm months??? Or like swith it up eveery year? and may make it so complicated with picture taking and different divisions? Can't it be just a catch and release and when you do so just call in it on VHF? I mean this is kinda getting a little over wehlming.

I just caught and released a 47" / 53 lber We did this during the cooler months when release can be successful - we are not going to promote targeting and killing a bunch of big fish for some small prizes. Taking a photo and releasing is not very hard given the availability of smart phones - or even just digital cameras and then downloading the pics - it's a pretty established way to do such tourneys to have a resonable way to ensure fair competition.
