Sorry - was being a bit sarcastic - if you're going to have a contest you have to have a way to verify results. Folks calling in a catch over the radio does not provide verifiable results.

I know this doesn't mean much but they do that in saltwater fishing tournaments

I'm in that's how our tournaments are in the kayaking world ,we all use hawg troughs as official measuring boards they only go to 30" though ,due to not having live wells on a kayak every tournament I've seen or heard of is catch photo release ,with a number or badge of some type giving out the night before the tourney .

Good point. Would there be multiple divisions? i.e kayak, artificial, live bait, youth, etc. This ain't the Striper Club One division - most likely a boat-based, two-fish, total length Catch-Photo-Release format. Split it up into half a dozen categories so that everyone can win and there is no point in doing it as there are not enough folks in any given category to have enough prize money to be interesting. Fall is a time where any fishing style can be successful and I'd argue guys in kayaks and small boats are not really disadvantaged either - heck, they may have a few advantages..... Since it is too hot to fish this afternoon, I wouldn't mind reading all the advantages my 1950 12' flat bottom unmotorized zero intel jon boat has over a 250 hp 24' mega ship with 23 rod holders, a 90 gallon aquarium live well, and enough sonar to track the mars rover. Let me get my popcorn...

Hmmm....
1. you don't have to buy gas. 2. you don't need a expensive bait tank.... you've got the entire lake putting oxygen in that trash can you are pulling around..... 3.you don't need electronics.... you have been fishing the lake long enough to know a bunch of hot spots. 4. you don't have a 500 dollar a month boat payment. 5. you don't have to buy a truck to pull your boat. 6. insurance is much cheaper on your 1950 boat than a new one.

all that and you can get that boat in places that the 24' mega-yacht can't......

Guys - this was for last year..... though we are still planning for a tourney series in Nov, Dec, Mar & April that would have reasonable entry-fees with decent pay-outs for those looking for a little $$$ tourney competition.......

OK, I'll just keep my eye on the board. I've never been in a tournament so it should be fun. Thanks for letting us know it was for last year
