Got out mid afternoon to get some bait. It was a little tougher than it has been, but still not awful. Rounded up about 35 moneymakers and then hung out for a bit before going to pick up my buddy about 4ish. Decided to mix things up and fish a creek 10min from the house instead of the same old 5 min away creeks! Had to burn a lil more gas..high roller style like Mward. Put a 17lber in the boat within the first 5minutes and thought we had made a great decision. Ended up catching another 4-5 after that and missed a bunch too. Smaller fish. 25-28". Couple on downlines..rest on freelined boards on bank. Lots of blowups..not much eating going on. We missed quite a few..believe my buddy was 1 for 8 at one point..I heard a few bad words and saw some tears flowing as well! We found a few more shad also and loaded 40+ into my buddys dock tank to end the evening.
Water was 60-65.
Only got a picture of the 17. Looked through my notes earlier and that's the 31st 15-19lb fish we've boated this spring. All released! Keep on releasing them and it'll get even better! It's working! We've got an awesome fishery!
By the way, be careful out there. People are idiots. I had a guy in a Bass Tracker cut me off and if I hadn't let off, I would have hit them. Never been that close to running over someone. He never even saw me. I don't know what he was looking at. Not that hard to see a boat with a t-top about to t-bone you. I honked and raised my arms up and he waved. What can you say. Nice guy.
