I have a 25' one, As I got older I enjoy it more. More room Don't beat you to death more of a family boat they are slow, but fast isn't as important to me any more can be a pain in the wind, takes a good size trolling motor to control them in the wind smaller motor, easy on gas, I can go from the bridge up to BayRoc and about half back on 5 gallons fuel

Love my 26' pontiin. Traded/sold my 22' CC for it. Still working on settimg it up for striper fishing. More room and more comfortable so the Mrs's is more likely to go out.

I have a 70 on mine at present, its rated 115. Had the 115 on it untill lower unit went out, runs about the same speed, but burns less fuel with the 70, pontoons aren't about speed, its the ride and the room. I've been on some or them that has a 40 hp not fast but dependable and easy on the pocketbook

Some pontoons and tritoons nowadays have bigger motors on them. I've seen 250hp on some of them. My dad has a 150hp on his and it will run 35ish. It's got an extremely stable and smooth ride also.

You're looking for one of these? If my wife had her way, I'd be fishing out of a pontoon. If I had been on a tri-toon with a 225 HP Yamaha vs. those rental pontoons with a 50 hp putter on the back I just might be as well. They sure are plush and will move down the lake pretty good. It was the wind effect that I was concerned about - though I'm not sure its terribly worse that a Bay Boat / Center console with higher sides and a t-top w/ curtains.

Yes the wind really works on them, but you are right about any high side boat, my old 22' Starcraft was a dog in the wind, almost like you had a sail up sometimes. But she was a dry ride even on the coast in 4 to 6 foot seas

I would go bigger, boats tend to get smaller as you outfit them
