Up early, caught some ales and shad at Campers. Drove to Moormans to put in. Tons of Gizzards flipping all round Moormons ramp. Caught a few I those beauties (@ 8-10 inches long). Yakforstripes and I paddled out with downlines and planers. Got one hit on a 5inch shad on a downline around 12ft deep in the first 5 mins. Then not a single taker for the rest of the day. Saw a few nice fish on the finder checking out the big gizzards we were downlining but none would strike. No hits on planers with gizzards, shad or ales. Water was super stained/muddy (visability about 1ft) which is the only thing I can figure that kept the fish from taking the bait. >side note< two boats came down the lake, apparently racing/goofing off, riding about 20 feet from each other at full speed in the narrow portion that is hardy/Moormans. It was the first time this year that I actually got a little concerned that I was going to be hit. I had to wave my paddle straight up in the air at least 10 times before they even started to slow down and change course. Posting this just to remind everyone to be careful out there and don't forget about us kayakers out there!

Nice report!
The crazies came out Sunday. It was opening day on the lake I believe..nobody told me either. My blood pressure was a lil higher than normal after about 10am. It reminded me of why I hate summer fishing. Be careful out there.

Great report. I had the same experience as Bentrod but on Saturday afternoon. I was back in a cove pulling planers when the water skiers showed up. Once summer gets here I only go on the lake in the very early morning and I try to get off the lake before the crazies wake up.
