Hey gang, me again with a second post, different question.
I typically can find gizzard shad shallow in the back of creeks pretty consistently, but generally prefer and have had more success with alewife. Seems lately off my dock lights or at night off marina lights, I struggle finding any good sized ales.
I throw an 8 ft, 1.5lbs/ft, 3/8th non taped net. But don’t have an extension rope and only go down maybe 15 ft. Am I too shallow?
What’s the best method to find and catch them deep? And ideally during the day if possible!?
Thanks!!

Get the largest taped net you can throw. I’ve got an 8ft’er with 50ft of rope. Literally caught bait that was sitting in 45 fow on the bottom. Just be prepared, even at 8ft, this net is much more to pull back in compared to a non taped net.

Thanks for the response. I’ve got an 8’ I may try and tape it this week and extend the rope.

Thanks for the response. I’ve got an 8’ I may try and tape it this week and extend the rope. You’ll need to tape inside and out and it’s tedious. I’ll be honest, it’s better to purchase one that’s already had the engineering figured out, specific weight for the mesh size specifically. I’ve taped my own, it works, but not as good as the one I purchased already premade.
