The lake is hit or miss right now, I can go out today and whack 'em on several different baits, and then go tomorrow and struggle to put anything in the boat. All I can suggest is to move around, try different things, and hopefully you'll locate some fish that are eager to bite.
Here is a FB comment from one of my friends, he went yesterday and had one of those memorable days on the water.
"I started way up the lake bass fishing in the wind scouting spots. Found one bank and point that rocked with deep water, brush and rocks. Lost a nice bass that would have pushed 4 and caught 3 in the 2.5 range. Crused into the back of a cove and spent most of the day having a ball catching 2 to 2.5 pound bass chasing shad under the water. It was so cool to watch the shad try to hide under a dock, the bass would line up with one on the sides and one in front and close in. Meanwhile still learning to skip, managed to pull a few out while also beating up the wood, the prop, and a few toons. I don't know how many bass I caught, but I'd fare to say at least 25 two pounders. It was so good, I literally tied a beattle spin on and worked it through the trough and caught them. See Pic. About 500 I ran way down lake looking for schooling stripers. One bust that a boat went to while I was fluking a hump. Then they blew up in front of me and I managed an eater size. After that things went dead so about 550 I crused up the lake with the intent of stopping at a few bass spots. Crusing up I thought I saw white like a half mile away. Little further and confirmed a bust. Pedal down I rolled up and there was literally 3 acres of schooling stripers. Those of you who know me and schooling fish, well I went ape crap. They went down soon after I got there, but stayed around and I absolutely caught a fish every cast for 1.5 hours. My first 3 hookups were 35 inch fish. After that, I hooked three more that were equally as big and they pulled off. Hooked another three and they pulled off before I realized I was missing the front treble on my spook. No time to fix, I tied a cane walker on, knowing I was about to create all sorts of hell with three trebles fired back in. Every single cast was a fish. Every single net lead to hooks in my pants, in the seat, in the carpet, stepping on poles, tripping on the step, getting fish on the outside of net due to head first trebles caught up. I got to the point that most of my trebles were bent down, twisted or broke but I kept casting and kept catching. It was truly unbelievable. The stripers just stayed around. You could close your eyes and cast anywhere and they would blow up on it. Fighting 35 inch fish in 2 feet of water on a topwater plug is about as fun and nervous as it gets. No idea how many fish I caught, but it was an amazing day on the water. I only wish I could have shared it with a partner."

There is a ramp at Moormans, and a public ramp up a little further at Hardy.
Just curious .... On Wednesday, were you in a green John boat with West VA registration, and stopped just down from Moomans and talked to a guy in a silver and blue Phoenix bass boat? If so, that was me.

Just some small ones, but still had a good time just being out on the water.
