I got up early with a boat full of my kids and went out for the first time since that warm day back in January. We searched with 2D and sidescan on main lake points all the way to creek backs where the water got muddy on the Roanoke side from Stony to Grimes. Saw a few promising marks in Indian Creek, but that was it. Most of the bait was about halfway back in the creeks. There were a lot of leaves on the surface, and faint marks subsurface were probably sinking leaves. We jigged, cast to banks, and cast to open water near diving gulls, but had no luck after about 4 hours, all with artificials. The water temp was about 54. Still trying to put the puzzle pieces together, maybe next trip.

Nice Report, Thanks, looking forward to getting back to SML, been in Florida. I am a planer boards and live bait doer. If you aren't use to throwing a cast net, try to get the largest minnows. Good Luck
