Pleased to report I got out today for a few hours. Didn't catch a thing but I had a blast. My primary focus was to play with new electronix. Managed to get them dialed in and set up. I saved the catching for next trip. Put in at the state park and saw 48.8*. Water was a little stained but still had 3-4' of viz. I made a long run up the Roanoke arm, mostly to give the big motor some running time, but did hit a few main lake points along the trip back. Had three bites, all on crankbaits, off of rocky points near channel swings. The bites were pretty lite, almost undetectable. The rod kinda loaded up on the next turn of the handle. DT-10 and DT-14 in shad patterns. Observations: 1) WTs ranged from 48.8 at launch to 50.6 when I came off mid-afternoon. Water gets cooler the further uplake you go. It also gets dirtier. Stain increases rapidly as you go above the 122 bridge. It's downright nasty a bit south of the Hardy ramp. 2) Main lake channel was clear midlake. Started seeing flotsam the further uplake I went. Lots of junk in the water around Hardy. 3) I did mark a lot of bait over the main channel. Saw large pods of bait holding tight to main channel breaks. Marked some feeding activity just above the 122 bridge. No discernible pattern to it. 4) My bites were on wind-blown points. No wind, no bites. And that, my friends, is it. Saw quite a few fishermen out. The weather was absolutely perfect. Hard to believe it was early JAN. Not to worry. The weather will turn to &*^# early next week. be safe, B

Woof. Especially in the turns. I turned around when I started seeing this stuff.

I really wanted to go this weekend but I figured upper end would have been blowed up with trash! Then on top of that the crazy winds stayed home and stuffed the wood stove! Thanks for the report detailed as always!!
