Figured I’d do my part and try to contribute more to the board! Like others, I don’t use Facebook or any other social media platform so I do rely on this board for my entertainment! Saturday went to philpot, I honestly have no been on that lake in years (since I was a kid/teenager so at least 16 years ago!)
I decided to troll because I had my 7 year old and 5 year old with me, so we were going to just have fun. I tried my hand at bottom bouncing with a crawler harness and apparently I am terrible at this technique. Literally got hung about every try so I put that away and started trolling.
Pulled different size rapala and flicker shad using trolling weights, I know it’s probably not the preferred method but I don’t have down riggers but it worked!
My daughter caught a 3-4 pound largemouth and my son landed a walleye 21” long. I shared his excitement there because they have eluded me earlier that am on harness rigs.
Didn’t fish very long as the kids wanted to play so after an hour or two we went riding and swimming and enjoyed the beautiful lake. I really forgotten how nice it is there, best part is only 45 min from my door to the ramp!
Take aways are this, the bass seemed to be in the deeper water and the one walleye came from some bumps from 20’-40’. Oh and green was the color of choice.
Planning to go in the next week or so in evening and fish into dark, maybe I’ll figure out those crawler rigs alone when I can yell at myself when I get stuck!
