I decided to hit Philpott today. Planning to spend a lot of time there this summer learning areas and patterns, also learning active target. Had a decent day of a mixed bag of spotted, lg mouth, and sm mouth bass. Lost twice as many as I caught, but fish were active. Points within creek mouths with deep water near that had some grass growth was the key. Seemed as though the bait liked the grass. Moving baits, weightless fluke and suspending rapala jerkbait were the workers. Worked the fluke basically like a spook walking it on top over 10-15 fow. Same depth of water with the jerkbait. WT: 70° AT: 63° to start, 75° to finish Conditions: Full cloud coverage from 6:30am-12:00pm, then the sun came out. Slight breeze in areas, also helped the bite where I found them.
Learned a lot watching active target today. Watched their reactions to baits in the areas I found them. That’s how I dialed in what they wanted.
