Hey, yall! I've been living on the lake full time for a couple years now. I've been fishing SML my whole life, but never targeted those famous stripes and I'm hoping to pick up a little wisdom from the guys and gals who have been. Recently I've gotten into kayak fishing, since I dont have the money to buy "real boat". It's been great for bass, but I really like the idea of hooking into a 10+ lbs fish on a kayak. I normally fish pretty close to the cliffs on the blackwater, as the kayak, though nice, isn't real fun when you're just paddling for a whole day for 2 hrs of fishing. Anyways, if yall have any tips on how I might be able to hook a striper from a kayak I would love to hear it! Thanks!

A-rig casting or trolling would be your simplest option right now, and again during fall/winter.
You can also bottom fish cut bait on points right now. I’d use shad or alewives for best results. This is easy fishing aside from the bait catching.
You can pull live bait on planar boards, but it is specialized-gear intensive. During early summer you can likely fish alewives on light lines and down lines in the cliffs area, and do fairly well. Again, you need a way to keep the alewives alive.
You can also night fish right now, casting artificial lures along the shoreline.

If I lived on the lake I would have a bait light on my dock and just fish off it if I didn’t have a boat You will catch some like that too

There’s some good YouTube videos from SML catching stripers, most being in the fall and winter as John mentioned.

Welcome to the site! Maybe try throwing some deep diving shad colored crankbaits off points and ledges? Also white zoom super flukes on a 3/4oz jig head.
I'll be visiting the lake June 3-10 this year, maybe I'll see you out there. We are staying near where Craddock meets the main lake.
