Wt=65 At=65. Caught a net full of blues at the dock last night. A lone 26” stripe was the only one unfortunate enough to find the hook. Lost count of how many pull backs I had (7-10). Marked quite a few fish, mostly small schools. Going to switch over to all ales and throw all the bluebacks back into the lake to see if that helps on hook ups.

Are the blue backs of the large variety? All the times I’ve used the jumbos, they’ve not done much for me. Have you tried gizzard Shad?

Fished gizzards and blues about 50/50 for a couple of days. Didn’t have a hit on any of the gizzards. I started with big blues, and the past few days have been fishing smaller ones. The bluebacks have been getting quite a bit of action I think, they are just all short strikes. I’ve never put a stinger on anything but a mongo shad. With the blues, I doubt they could handle a second hook. I tied up half of my lines with a #2 stinger and just let it dangle. As I feared when I tried it, it hasn’t been effective. I’ve tried slowing my troll to .3mph and still have a bunch of short strikes. Most of the fish I’ve caught have the hook in the lip at the front of the mouth.
