Hello all,
I grew up on & around the lake, boating & fishing was mainly what we did at the lake. My parents had a camper at hannabass point for about 15 years not to far down from Indian. The fishing that we mostly did was throwing out livers or cut shad from the bank or anchored boat. When the stripers used to run thick in cedar key daddy would head down to leesville damn & net gizzards about once a week & keep them on ice, & hit cedar key just about every evening & chunk out shad bellies. This was the only way & time of year that I learned to catch stripers. Well it's been about 15 years that I didn't really do much at all at the lake. I really don't know what sparked the interest to get into stripers , I guess I got tired of chunking bait in one spot & waiting for something to swim by. I had heard & read over the years about guys catching stripers all year long, so I thought I'd like to go after them instead of waiting. So I got a boat & started learning. Leo had mentioned this site after helping us one day with engine trouble. Thanks again Leo. Thanks to this site I have really learned a lot about trolling bait & how & where to catch it. The only thing I knew was summertime under the lights.I still go to lights but am learning other ways. My buddy hugefishon & I have come a long way. We've only had a handful of skunks this winter. Not bad for new guys right? We're in the old green Starcraft. Thanks again & hope to see you on the water.
