Well myself, my brother and my dad made it to Hatteras today. Been planning this trip for months. We’ve only tried our hand at surf fishing once before about 10 years ago. We struck out then, so this is our redemption trip Only able to fish about 4 hours this evening. Wind was brutal. Managed to catch a few though. 3 black drum, 2 flounder and a few whiting. We fishing Sunday and Monday all day so hopefully we can figure something out

Hambone the Wife and I just got back from there Saturday. We did pretty good surf fishing. The best advice I can give you is fresh cut mullet was definitely the best bait for us. Hope you catch some and enjoy trip.

Well, Sunday and Monday was a bust. The ocean was mad, giant waves and rip currents. We simply couldn’t keep lines in the water. 8 ounce sinkers would not hold. Fast as you threw out your line it was washed back up on the beach. So needless to say the fishing sucked for us. We managed to catch 4 flounder and 2 blues all day Sunday and half day Monday. By lunch time Monday we had enough. We called the trip early and headed back to Gods country, Glade Hill Va.
I believe I’ve had my fill of surf fishing, I think I’ll just stick to what I know and that’s fresh water.
