Hello all! I have been a lurker for a while. I have a read a lot of the faq’s and other threads and there is an amazing wealth of knowledge in these old forums! I hate how Facebook and other mediums have inadvertently destroyed forums of all types.
Anyway, we are new to the lake. I have 2 boys (5 and 8) that are fishing crazy. I was hoping to take them out tomorrow morning in pursuit of some striper. Any tips or locations would be most appreciated! We are leaving from halfway up Blackwater.

I haven’t been fishing at the lake in a while, and I don’t know what I’m doing when I’m there, but I was at the lake today riding the kids around on tubes and skis. I saw one boat obviously plying for stripers at the Roanoke S-curve, within yards of the state park shoreline. I saw another boat that looked like it was rigged for stripers leaving the dam area.
I spoke Thursday with a co-worker who lives at the lake and he said he was catching them on live bait on typical points way up the Roanoke arm near his house on Indian Creek. He said a few were breaking on the surface in the evenings, but the water is still a little warm for that to really take off yet.

It was a nice morning out on the lake. Too cold for the kids to want to tube. We messed about around the islands at the entrance to Gills then shot over to the dam and didn't see any action or anyone fishing then went up Craddock. Craddock creek had some fishing action going on but I didn't like the traffic. On the way from Gills to the dam I though we should mess around Bull Run. After we got done at Craddock my crew (5 and 8 yo) were getting cranky and snack were running low so we headed back towards home on Blackwater. When we passed Bull Run on the way home there were a couple guide boats and a few other center consoles. Should have trusted my gut. No fish were hooked.

My son and I drove around this morning trying out our new electronics. Didn’t see much near Craddock and South of S turns. Saw some breaking near S curve and dropped some live Shad. Missed several, but end up with 2 decent striper, 2 catfish, and 1 large mouth before using up our limited bait. Fun 30 minutes
