Has anyone been able to find any white perch this summer? I personally haven’t been fishing for them but my dad has been fishing hard for them. He has had very limited success. Only one here and there. For several years he was averaging 25-50 per trip, but he probably hasn’t caught 25 all summer. Any ideas?

I’ve looked around for them a few days this summer and not found anything worth fishing. I did find a school up on a shallow point 2 weeks ago, like 5-8’ deep mid morning. It was a small school and they didn’t stick around.
On Sunday we found ourselves in a cove where the mayflies had hatched. The only fish we caught we crappies and gills.
I’m wondering if the presence of threadfins has changed their diet and patterns.

I have fished for them a few times this month with limited success. No large schools only small groups and scattered fish in 12'-16' deep water. It does seem like the numbers are down.

I have been checking some of the places that have been good but, not this this year. I will keep looking.

I’m thinking threadfin is more of a deep water bait fish

I’m not sure about the depth. But I do believe they may have abandoned the lower lake regions populated with alewives in favor of upper lake and creek regions populated with threadfins.

I started noticing the decrease in numbers back in the winter as I usually catch quite a few around 12-13 inches while striper jigging. There were defiantly less around. I hope the flatheads have latched on to them and are getting fat.

Funny how few years back they was such an invasive species and was everywhere. Now can’t hardly find them…. ChooChoo there is for sure a lot of flatheads around these days. I remember as a kid you had to go to upper ends of the rivers to find a flathead, now they seem to be from one end to the other

Found a motherload this afternoon. Could only get a handful to eat, but they were busting all around the boat for a couple hours. Good Size to them. Not sure what they were eating. 15-25’. No wake zone…
