Fishing was pretty tough for me this March, but things got better real fast last weekend haha. Prior to anglers choice I was only getting 1-2 bites a day. They were decent fish and all on bama rigs but nothing to get too awful excited about. I prefished for the Fishers of Men VA West tourney last thursday (3/14) and got one bite on a crankbait mid lake and that was my only bite from 8am-7pm. Fished friday (3/15) downlake in the clearer water and had a better morning getting 7-10 bites on a shaky head, with the hook buried Harold and I werent sure what kinda quality we were on but that we had bites. My seventh grade history teacher caught a 7+ lber in the same cove we were fishing on a crankbait so we knew some big ones were in the area.
Tourney Sat to summarize. Got four bites on a shaky head: 2- 3 1/2 lbers 1-2lber 1-1.5 lber; all down lake in between or around docks. Fairly shallow. Also got four bites on a crankbait on the bank where I got my single bite in practice: 1-6.42 lber 3-2.5-3 lbers 1-1/5 lber. Won the tournament and big fish with 18.24 lbs outta 33 boats. Couple of 16 lb bags and 14 lb bags as well so the fish finally started biting pretty well last weekend. With this current cold snap who knows what they will do but at least I could catch em when it counted haha. If it ever does warm up the fish should go on a tear so I'd be getting ready if you haven't already been out! Good luck.
