Here are some pics of the live bait planer rods I’ve been building for some folks around SML recently. Found this blank a little while back from one of my suppliers and really like it for planer boards - the blank is a composite with a fiberglass upper 1/3 and graphite lower - so it has a very soft tip but tons of power. The weight and thickness of the blank will fool you - the 7’ 6” finished rod weighs about a 2/3 of an equivalent Striper Stealth and about the same, when equipped with an aluminum reel seat) as a 7’ Ugly Stick MH (with a nylon reel seat) but with so much more power….
