Got to the Lake Thursday evening in time for a bait hunt. Bait wasn’t easy but we where able to make a good tank throwing the Fitec tape nets. Bait was holding 10-20’ in 30-40’ of water. 4/8 WT: 55-58 AT: 38-55 Set: free and light line planers and floats. Headed up the RR side first thing hitting a few main lake points and a creek. Found 1 26” fish on the main lake but with little action. So moved to a RR creek. Picked up another 30” fish in the creek and had several more chases and blowups. Decided to make a run to the BW and pick up a another buddy. Pulled a couple BW spots with little action. Decided to improve our bait for the tournament and help out a friend with his tank. We found bait this time way back in very shallow water. Called it a day and tucked in the bait for the tourney.
4/9 AT:42-55 WT: 55-58 Set: free and light line planers and floats. Started the day in a BW creek with just a few swirls for the first hour. Things picked up and we were able to put 2 fish in the boat. 32.75” and 33.5”. Then 2 bass boats pulled on on the same point and shut us down. We decided to make a run up the BW. Found the water to be stained petty good. Pulled a few main lake points with no action at all. Moved back down to a creek and picked up another 26” striper on a Down line. As the action slowed we made our way back down the BW picking up another 2 fish but not adding to our total. 30.5” and 29”. Did have one break off right beside the boat that may have help us. (But everyone that breaks off is always a citation in our eyes, lol). Boated 5 fish and broke one off on the day. Feeling pretty good about the coupe fish we had to turn in we headed for check in. Team HIS Bounty Finished the day 4th place and our youth angle Deuce finished 2nd in the youth division. Great start to the season!!! All fish were caught up close on the bank. The DL fish was on a flat in 9’ of water.
