Weather: windy, AT: 38-50 Water temp: 47-55 Set: free and light line planers and floats. 8”-12” gizzards 3/25 pre-fishing and bait hunting. Morning we Found some fish in a a BW creek holding just outside the mud line. Caught 3 all on light lines with 5/8oz weight. Went on a bait hunt midday to find some gizzards holding in 12-25’ foot water. Lots of thread fins mixed in had to work to get a tank of 6-11” Shad. Evening: we changed up tactics and headed to cleaner water mid lake. Found a few fish holding and caught 3 on free line planer boards. Biggest fish if the day was 32” 3/26: fishing for the fallen event Same set as the day before. Targeted mid lake clean water. Started fishing at 6:45 and the wind was rocking all day. 15-40mph. Started out strong and out 2 Stripers and a citation LM in the boat in the first 2 hours. Bite died down and we ran down lake, which was like the ocean at this point to try and find some cover from the wind. Pull several spots with only boating a smallmouth. Striper were 28” and 28 1/4” which ended us up on 5th place for the tourney. Our Vet had been a bass fisherman his whole life and this was his first citation so the excitement of that was priceless.
