Got to the lake Thursday evening and went straight out on a bait hunt. Found bait in the back of a BW creek. Not real easy to catch but not terrible. Caught some very nice 8-12” gizzards. Friday 3/11 Air temp: 32-60, Water 49-53 Tackle: free lines, light lines on planer boards and floats Started out in a BW creek pulling 8-12” gizzards. Had steady action off the bat boating 3 smallish Stripers 26”, 28”, 28” action died down and we decide to make a move headed up river and found very murky water and water temps dropping down to 48-49. No action in these areas. But some fish were there just not eating. Made several moves hitting spots we know. Had some good chases and blow ups but no hooks ups till around 2pm. Boated a 29.5” striper. Wind had picked up and the trolling Motor was getting weak so we decided to head in for a quick recharge. My son Wyatt made it down that evening and we headed back out around 5:30 for a quick evening pull. Water temps at 53. Wind had laid and was dead calm. 3 bank boards with big bait. 2 mins in the First pull the outside board gets smoked and Wyatt is on the rod battling his 1st citation. The excitement on that kids face when he saw it it’s something this Dad will never forget. Measured in at 38” and 19.03 pounds. We boated 5 Stripers on the day. Blessed Friday for sure.
