With the way fuel prices are going we are going to have to start calling each other going out fishing, how many people can you fit on your rig? Going to have to start taking more people out this year and asking for gas money now! Fishing ain’t free !

I intend to cut back in multiple ways. Less jetski. Less Mexican. And the fish, I’ll just be waiting for them to come to B and B.

This massive inflation is good for fishing though...
Think about it, how much would you pay to have the lake to yourself with no wakeboats, jetskis, etc buzzing around... You're about to find out!

Back in the early 2010s it was good times on the lake. Anglers only for the most part.

It is going to be very interesting. I myself intend to put the jetski in the water only enough to keep the engine lubed. Heck, I had the whole week off last week and put the boat in the water one day. I live in Becky’s Creek and I am considering a self imposed limit of only fishing s curves to bridge. It will be interesting to see what the stripers do over the next year or so if summer harvest drops to say 50% of its normal level. I think petroleum fueled water recreation will be one of the things folks cut to save money. The guides will be a pretty good barometer on if this occurs. You know they are gonna have to raise prices. There are some good guys that I hope don’t get hurt or put out of business by this.

When I started fishing the lake back in 1970, on most days you would be hard pressed to see another boat on the lake. I remember many days when we never saw another boat. It sure was nice! With the gas prices getting high, and probably even higher by this summer, there will probably be a little less activity on the water, but not much. The folks that can afford to live on the lake, I'm sure, can afford a the higher cost of gas for their boats and jet skis.

The fishermen hit the hardest will be the ones that have to tow to the lake. They get hit with a double down. Glad I had parents that knew how to do with less. Now if I can get it through a teenager’s thick head.

Most of my fishing will be at Philpott since it’s a bit less of a tow than to SML.
I’m not looking forward to towing our travel trailer around this year. Many trips already planned and paid for, so we’re going.
And we’re probably still fishing too.
Yolo. It’s just paper and a bunch of 1s and 0s made to look like value.

Quality time is hard to price, especially with kids.

Quality time! I am still lucky enough to be fishing with my dad it’s hard sometimes when he just wants to start pulling baits which he hates to do when I am still looking for better marks. We both got started in the early 90s with one of his friends that like to anchor down and wait for hours and hours sometimes with no activity, we still fish like that a few times in the spring when they are hitting like crazy on top water and I am like pull anchor and let’s throw flukes and plugs nah they will hit the bait in a few? I am up front throwing as hard as I can still catching a few and he is starring at a rod waiting! Love that guy but I am still working on getting him into pulling baits which we do catch more doing that, it’s just hard getting him sold on that way. I love watching him reeling in a nice fish either way!
