Got my 4yr old out on the water last Saturday afternoon for a couple hours. We found big 11-12”+ shad fairly quick in about 25-30ft in a nearby creek - that creek had enough color to it now that shad had moved in pretty good. Caught enough for what we needed and decided to put bait out right there as I had been marking some fish moving through the area. We pretty quickly had some action on our shad and shortly after a shallow freelined board took off. We had a good fight on our hands and were able to tag team an 18lb/36.5” striper. We fished another hour or so with a few shallow lookers but nothing taking. All in all a great short trip with the little dude. My favorite part was when we got home and he ran up to my wife and said “Mommy, we caught a big striper, like a REALLY BIG STRIPER!” Water temps were around 53-54 that day - air temp was 75.

Awesome report. Best thing about it is little man. You can see the happiness in that face. Good job getting him out, dad.
