Looks like it was pretty tough fishing last weekend for the tournament. Seems to be down the last year or so.
Did you tournament guys have a hard time finding decent size bait?

We had bigger bait but the stripers did not seem to be interested. A lot of guys were fishing smaller bait on downlines. I saw a post from one of the Guides talking about the threadfins taking over and keeping the stripers deep. I will say I personally have not seen much of a fall planer board bite. We will catch a few fish but it's not a lot of action.

We haven’t fished much this year but seems very hard to catch that 6-7-8” size bait. Lots of small stuff. Caught our two fish tonite on very small bait. I didn’t look to see if they were threadfins. On down lines like you said. They were also very small fish.
Finally got a couple big baits after dark by luck - weren’t marking any. We’ll see if they produce in the morning.

Caught one fish Saturday morning. Half dozen bites that didn’t come right.
Marked a good number of fish.
There is a startling lack of bait fish on the upper black water side. I’m no pro but I’ve been fishing the lake 7 years or so and it’s the worst I’ve seen. Is the Roanoke side having a similar situation?
Has there been any discussions about it at the striper club?
