All I know is that there was “surface bait” everywhere through there. And we saw plenty of fish popping them as we motored through. No busting schools, just looked like singles and pairs chasing the bait balls.

Same thing was going on in Bull run yesterday evening, bait balls everywhere and plenty of fish chasing.

If it was me I would throw a pencil popper if action was hot. If not I would throw a bucktail, or jointed long a bomber.

Thanks for the tips. My 7 year old was pretty pumped catching bluegill off the dock until something snapped his bobber and hook off his snoopy rod. Now he wants bigger fish!

Funny you say that I’m basically the same but opposite, only remember once in my 37 years, that I actually fished the Roanoke side.

Love the dark side, it’s home to me. Know about every nook and cranny.

I have been saying I wanted to fish over there for a while just normally fish from around the park and up we have never really fished after it gets hot way to crowded for my liking! If it’s less yuppies sounds like my kind of place!

I like a 3” swim bait, paddle tail for swimming, fork tail or pumping. 1/4 oz head seems to be the meet in the middle man. All white!
