Guy showed me a picture of an 81 lb striper that was supposed to have been caught in Va. I haven't been able to find out anything else about it. It was huge.

The first was was just a little over 42 lbs. The second and final record from Smith Mountain Lake was 47 lbs 7oz. The current state Record is from Leesville Lake at 53 lbs 7 oz (pictured below). It was caught on March 16, 2000 by James B Davis.

Not for nothing it's the things that Dreams are made of... Have a friend that lost a rod on a fish earlier this year. He was a little upset and I said why? That was the biggest fish you can imagine, something yarns are made of. He was still upset about loosing the rod... Loving the posts..

There are 2 world records for Striped Bass. 1 is for "caught and released" fish, and the second is for the absolute largest caught. Pictured below is the largest "caught and released' Striper. They didn't get the actual weight as it was released as soon as they got the length measurement. The length was 48 inches. It was caught and released by Alex Foster, off Cape Charles. Greg Myerson broke the IGFA "All Time" striped bass world record in 2011 while fishing at a reef off the coast of Westbrook, Conn. Myerson was fishing a live eel when he hooked into the world record striper, measuring in at 54 inches, and weighing 81.88 pounds. The gigantic fish toppled the previous world record by 3 pounds, which had been untouched for 29 years.
