And now to the next question. What knot have you guys found that works the best for casting and trolling with live bait?

Hey kzigmond2 - I moved this post with a new question over to this other sub-board just to help keep things organized topic-wise.
With respect to tying line to my hooks for livebait, I use one of two knots.
Kite-fisher Snell know for snelling my circle hooks (for downlines) and usually I also do this also on my J-hooks for planer board / float lines. This is the easiest snell knot that I've seen and I thank Catsnstripers big-time for introducing me to it. The only downside is you need both ends of your line/leader to tie it - usually not an issue as I tie the snell, then tie the other end of the leader to my swivel. But if you break off the hook, or want to tie straight to your main line, then its out.
The other knot I use is the Uni-knot. Has some of the highest breaking strength ratings and is a good universal knot.

I use Travis' snell knot on octopus and circle hooks. It's not really designed for j hooks or straight eye'd hooks.
The other knot I use is the improved clinch knot. It's simple to tie and holds very well. I couldn't honestly tell you the last time I broke a fish off because of the knot. I fish enough that my knots get retied often and I check my leader and lines after every fish we catch and retie as needed.

I should say I meant "octopus" when I said "J" hooks above..... Yeah. The circles need to be octopus too just to clarify. Straight eye may work but I think the pull of the line would be wrong.

Check out the Palomar knot, strongest according to line tests, line will break before the knot, and simplest knot to tie. I use this on hooks. I use improved clinch knot for line to swivel and swivel to leader. I've had no problem with knots breaking loose, unless it's ones I was tying while sipping JD.

Palomar is a great knot too as long as you can fit whatever you are tying through the loop - hook is fine - a big lure with several treble hooks, no so much. I used to use it on anything with braid, but sometimes I have a problem getting the knot to snug up correctly, and from my reading much of the strength is lost if the loops lay over each other the wrong way. Maybe I just need to work on it, more carefully tighten the loops.
