I found this on the Kerr Lake Facebook page this morning, and thought you guys might like to see it: POTENTIAL NC STATE RECORD by Brian Williamson and Neuse River Bait & Tackle Ryan Nix stopped by the shop after an awesome day on the water crappie fishing. Like many times before, him and some friends traveled to their favorite spots on Kerr lake jigging for Crappie but this time he was rewarded with BIG surprise! While fishing with his B&M 12 ft Black Widow he must have placed that 1/32oz jig right in the right spot. With a Bobby Garland Paddle Tail in Pumpkin Seed with Chartreuse tail color this MONSTER White Crappie came from the depths and smoked it! This fish measured 17 ¾” long and had a14⅞" girth. She weighed 4lb 7.5oz. After weighing it in on our NC Official Certified Scales he went home to do what he always did and cleaned the days catch. He was about to cook the fresh fillets he decided to look at the State Record for a White Crappie in NC, it was 3lb 12oz... He would have beaten the previous record by 11.5oz. Unfortunately, he had already cleaned the fish when he realized what he had done. BUT now he has a story for his grandkids. Regardless Ryan Nix, it's a heck of a fish! Congrats buddy!
