After 4 mornings being skunked I decided to switch things up from pulling live bait to chasing birds Landed a 27” on my trout fishing rod rigged with 4lb test and a 3/8 jig head with green paddle tail. Casting into boils and actually seeing striper eat bait on the surface is a pretty exciting thing to see. Not just seeing breaking fish, but actually seeing them swim just below the surface and engulf bait 10ft from the boat then disappear had me all kinds of jacked up. Water temp: 45-46 in the S curve area. Air temp: 40ish Weather: mostly cloudy

Casting and jigging in lighter tackle is always a blast.
Any signs of threadfin dying off from the colder water?

Not that I’ve noticed, I haven’t seen any dead bait floating just lots of schools of smaller bait getting pushed to the top on points and humps. Picture from today. This happened about every 5th cast.
