Finally got up to the lake for the first time .Got there at 4 and scouted around looking for decent water color and bait finally settled on area thought would hopefully hold a fish or 2 before the rain started. Started casting banks at 5:30 fished 3 places the first 2 hours and nothing but 1 strike and no hook up .4TH bank i fished nothing on first 4 cast turned the boat around to go back down same area with a different bait but when i turned did not realize i had gotton closer to the bank than i wanted .My first cast was in 2ft of water and as soon as i picked my rod tip up BAM hooked up with a 30in fish. Got that one in and released nxt cast Wham hooked up again I new then Ihad been fishing ti deep earlier Ended up with 6 all released then the rain started so I called it a night This is the only time of year I fish SML Hope to get back this weekend

Good fishing report. Do you mind letting us know what type of lure you were using? Also a general indication of where on the lake you were fishing would be appreciated.

hmmmmm. lightweight jigs. i'm a big fan of them. i get tons of strikes on the fall. when you pair them w/ a buoyant trailer you can get some really amazing bites. that extra split second in the strike zone makes a diff.

Thanks for sharing the info. I fished just below Hales Ford today from about 11:00am - dark. Casted swimbaits to points primarily but, did not even get a bite. About 4:30pm I was lucky enough to be in the right place, at the right time and doing the right thing and caught three stripers that were chasing shad at the mouth of one of the coves a couple hundred yards below Hales Ford bridge. 2 were 3-4 pounds and 1 was about 12. Hit a white money minnow on a 3/8 ounce head. I intended to fish after dark for a few hours but, my feet were telling me it was time to go.
