Fished from about noon to 4 in Gillis Creek area. Caught two 25 inch fish—one about 3 o’clock and one right at 4. Both on ales on down lines in about 30 feet of water. I had 2 light lines out on planets—one with an ale and one with a 9 inch shad, as well as a free line with an ale. No bites on those. Absolutely beautiful weather.

Thanks for the report. How was catching bait? Tough? Just curious, I’ll be there in a few weeks for the first time. Staying on the water with plans of putting out lights on the dock. Thanks in advance for any info.

I have a light on my dock. I’m way down lake so almost exclusively alewifes. I get shad every blue moon. I saw bait balls in Gillis but not a ton.

Bigger shad are pretty easy right now in the back of the creeks. In a couple weeks that may change though - all dependent on how cold the water gets.
