where to start

First trip this year me and a couple buddies going up halloween weekend to give it a shot. Anyone have a suggestion on going up river or staying down near damn? When in doubt i usually start at Gills Creeek which is midriver. Any suggestion would be appreciated. I will give a report when we get back. hope everyone has a good season.
