Striper fishing Tuesday night and Wednesday

I'm coming down the Smith Mountain Lake on Tuesday night and fishing through to Wednesday was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on where to start and how to fish for them using live bait. Should I be using planer boards or just down lines, free lines? And a good area to start? any tips would be greatly appreciate thanks
