Taking my boys out Saturday morning if the weather cooperates . They are 7 and 8 with decent casting skills. They want to throw some artificial’s. Probably headed up to Beaverdam to check that creek out. Any suggestions on lures they could throw that would be simple to work and still put a few fish in the boat. Never been in Beaverdam and I know nothing about bass patterns this time of year! Actually don’t know hardly anything about the lake itself. Mainly fished Roanoke river before I got the boat! Thanks!

might wanna rethink upper end of the lake. still pretty messy up there. and dangerous with all the flotsam. midlake region (around state park) is in good shape.

We are at R25 LAKE IS clear little crap in the lake... have seen several bass on beds still.. We had so many Fry over the docks last weekend... they looked like a cloud...Don't fish for the Green fish but enjoy others catching... Good hunting...

Saturday report! Put in at Oak Grove and didn’t make it to the main channel and my 7 year old stepped on a KVD 2.5 and ran the treble hook in through the bottom of his foot up to the snap ring. Got the boat out of the water and made a trip to the urgent care across from Kroger. The doctor got it out and he wanted to go back fishing. By then it was getting hot and the boat traffic started getting heavy. Did a little swimming and cruised the lake a little to get familiar with some areas since I don’t know a lot about the lake.
