They’re already out in force. Used cicadas for bait during the last hatch and fishing was good.

Well I haven’t seen, or heard any yet. Anybody seeing any around the water? None in Becky’s Creek.

I have only seen one around B22. Hoping to use them as bait soon.
Slightly unrelated, but Blue Gill are out in force now. I see them in the mornings around the dock. Is it time to switch to Blue Gill imitation instead of shad? So far I've caught more catfish than bass with them as live bait.

I don’t believe bluegills are high on the list of preferred food for most gamefish. The soft rayed baitfish like shad and suckers are much easier to eat, and just as available if not more so. I only use bluegills for catfish, and that’s all we catch when using them.
As far as cicadas. On our property, We had a large hatch that peaked about 2-3 weeks ago. They were everywhere. Then they disappeared, but now it’s deafening outside, so they’re up in the trees doing their thing. We haven’t seen much hatching going on the last week or so.

I'm at B 33 and the cicadas are out in force. You can hardly take a step without crunching a cicada carcass. The noise (singing) they make is loud from sunup to sunrise.
By the way, from what I've read, it's only the males that sing. They are looking for a mate and trying to discourage birds from eating them.
